Summer Trip
July 2024
On Thursday Gold class went to Ponderosa Zoo. We had a brilliant time looking at all the animals and exploring the different play areas. We especially enjoyed the giant pillow for bouncing, and we loved watching the monkeys.
In The Jungle
May 2024
Last half term was very busy for Gold Class. We enjoyed an educational visit to Tandle Hills, and our Year 6 pupils took part in a transition session to Redwood School.
In Maths we have been working with numicon - we even incorporated some outdoor learning using sticks and flowers from our wooded area.
In Science we took part in lots of experiments. We especially liked creating volcanoes.
In PE we worked on our ball skills and practiced balancing skills using the aerial hoop, whilst in PSHE we looked at lifecycles.
Busy Gold Class
May 2024
Gold class have had a very busy week! During our Art lesson, we have been making our very own Koala bears using our handprints as part of our topic ‘In The Jungle’.
In Food Technology we have been using our skills to make our own animal shaped sandwiches, and in PE we have been working on the hoop. We are getting really good at balancing now!
Happy Healthy Week
February 2024
During our Happy Healthy Week, Gold Class had the opportunity to experience lots of new and exciting experiences that can help us keep happy and healthy. We used our Mini Bus time to visit Simply Cycling. We loved exploring all the different bikes and trikes and being able to ride them on the large track (even if it was a bit of a wet day).
We had two special visitors in School, Skylight Circus and Mayfield Rugby Club. We enjoyed our Wow performance from the Skylight Circus and had so much fun during our ‘come and try’ Rugby session.
In Class we explored healthy food and made yummy fruit kebabs and had a day where we explored the foot spas and participated in all our favourite activities that help us to stay happy.
Rocks and Volcanos
January 2024
This half term in Science Gold Class have been learning all about rocks. We have explored lots of different types of rocks, and looked at what happens to them. We then learnt about volcanos, and conducted a science experiment to create out own bubbling volcanos!
Design technology
October 2023
Gold class have been working really hard on designing and making different houses. Last week we looked at boat houses in Amsterdam. We designed and made boats using an origami technique. We then tested our boats in science to see how many Numicon pegs we could put into our boats before they sank in the water tank. We then made a table of results. We were all so engaged and loved this session.
Autumn term - Science
October 2023
Gold Class have been working hard in science to investigate, observe and predict what will happen. We have specifically looked at floating and sinking investigations with different materials, sorting materials and investigating electricity and light.
The things we enjoy the most have been sensory investigations and the competition we had to test our boats. We all go so excited to fill the boats with Numicon pegs to count how many we could fit in before the boat sunk. Some of us were very strategic!
