The Prevent Duty
We work to make sure all our staff and families have a good understanding of the 'Prevent Duty'. This forms one aspect of the school's good practice in safeguarding children.
The Prevent Duty is just part of the UK's Counter Terrorism Strategy (CONTEST). This strategy aims to reduce the risk of terrorism in the UK and has 4 elements - Pursue, Protect, Prepare and PREVENT. As a school we have a duty to help prevent our pupils becoming involved in extremist activity of any kind.
Section 26 of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 places a duty on all schools to have “due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”.
