Our Staff

Class Teams

There is a very large and enthusiastic team at Newlands!  We work together to provide the best possible experience of school for all our children and families.

The Class Team will get to know your child really well and will be pleased to involve you in their life at school.

Children develop at their own rate and in their own ways. For this reason, classes are grouped according to age and stage. This means that some children may be in a class with children from a different Key Stage.  As our Topics change when pupils enter a KS2 focused class, all children get a range of different learning experiences and opportunities as they move through school.

We provide meaningful learning opportunities to build on their strengths and address their needs.

In order to do this, we create opportunities for your child to

 - become involved with things that interest them

 - be active in their learning and experiences

 - develop their skills and confidence

 - work with each other

 - think and act for themselves and become as independent as possible.

Lunchtime Organisers

We have a wonderful team of Lunchtime Organisers working with us every day.

Each person is linked to a class and spends time getting to know the children, helping them to eat their lunch and making sure that Lunchtimes are a positive time for everyone.

Some children are learning to communicate what they would like to eat, others are learning to use a knife and fork.

Our Lunchtime Organisers are always looking to see who should receive the next Lunchtime Award too! These are given for many things, including good behaviour in the hall, trying new foods and playing well with other children outside.

Lunchtimes are always busy and we look to our Lunchtime Team to make sure things run smoothly.

Leadership Team

Our Leadership Team includes staff from across the school.

Together we work with staff, children, parents, Governors and colleagues from Health and Social Care to make make sure that Newlands keeps moving forwards, and firmly focussed on the needs and interests of the children.

Driver

Shaf is our school minibus driver and he works across the whole school, driving the minibus for class trips and supporting the children when they are out of school.  He also helps out in classes too!  A number of staff in school also have a minibus driving qualification and this means that we use our minibus as often as we can.

First Aiders

We have a team of staff with up-to-date

First Aid Certificates, and paediatric First Aid.

They are  Gemma, Rachel, Liz, Tas, Shaf, Carla and Emma

We also have 2 Mental Health First Aiders. They are Toni and Jade.

Medication

All our Level 3+ Teaching Assistants are trained to give medication in school, in addition to many teachers and senior staff.  This means that essential medication can be given, once parents have given the necessary permissions.

Parents are expected to give medication to their children at home unless this is essential during school time.  For any queries in this area, please contact our Deputy Head teacher, Laura Holmes, via the school Office on 0161 655 0220.

Family Support

Our Family Liaison Officer is Toni Wolstenholme. Toni supports our families in lots of ways, and organises our Parental Engagement activities throughout the year.

If you require any support, you can contact Toni via our school office on 0161 655 0220, or email
