“I have the right to an education which develops my personality, respect for others rights, and the environment”
Unicef Rights Respecting Schools Article 29
This term, Silver Birch class has embraced a holistic educational approach in alignment with Article 29 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, focusing on the comprehensive development of each child's personality, talents, and abilities. Through tennis sessions, students enhanced their physical coordination and built social connections, fostering both physical and mental well-being. Nature walks in the school grounds have provided opportunities for students to engage and observe the environment, promoting attentiveness and reducing stress. In English lessons, exploring and acting out emotions through drama supported emotional intelligence and empathy development. Our talents were also celebrated in our class performance of Jack and the Beanstalk. Collectively, these activities have cultivated respect for human rights, personal growth, and environmental appreciation, embodying the core objectives of Article 29.

“I have the right to find out and share information”
Unicef Rights Respecting Schools Article 13
In Silver Birch Class, we are embracing the right to freedom of expression as outlined in Article 13 of the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools framework. This article emphasizes every child's right to share information and ideas in a variety of ways, including through the use of technology. In our ICT lessons, students are learning to upload and edit photographs on laptops using a photo editor. This hands-on experience allows children to creatively express themselves, develop digital skills, and communicate their thoughts visually. By linking technology with self-expression, we empower our students to make their voices heard in the digital world while respecting their rights and fostering confidence in their abilities.
